Financial Planning Associate

This entry-level position is a key support role for a team of financial planners in an established and growing fee-only financial planning firm. The Financial Planning Associate is an integral member of our financial planning team. Using your logic and analytical skills, you will effectively evaluate a broad range of data and information to prepare financial reports and projections that will help our Financial Planners give the very best, unbiased recommendations to our clients. You will then use your superior customer service and communication skills to help our clients work with associated professionals to implement those recommendations. This position offers a unique opportunity for an intelligent and detail-oriented individual to learn all aspects of financial planning.


As an intern at Stepp & Rothwell, you will be assisting our team of Financial Planners and Associates with the financial planning process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, handling client data, incorporating data into reports, and helping our clients to implement our recommendations. We are comprehensive and holistic financial planners, therefore you will gain hands on financial planning experience.

Our Internship Program consists of in-depth training on our planning processes, exposure to financial planning software, correspondence with other financial professionals, assisting in the creation of new financial plans, observing client meetings, and other projects that will give you the opportunity to use your individual skill set and add value to our firm.

Intern Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
